Positive and actionable commitments to stimulate real change
At last year’s Reykjavík Global Forum – Women Leaders 2019, an agreement was reached that in order to change the future, Conversationists need to engage at a higher level and ‘walk the talk’.
In pursuit of that goal, we instituted the Reykjavík Pledges, whereby Conversationists could make commitments to realising concrete and measurable actions that will help to drive and sustain tangible progress. Since then, we have gathered some very ambitious pledges.
These pledges are in line with the Forum’s purpose of Power, Together, as well as the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, answering a universal call to action to build a better future and increase women’s participation in leadership.
To amplify the promises made and all subsequent positive changes stemming from the Forum, the Reykjavík Pledges can now be appreciated by way of the Reykjavík Pledge Tracker, which follows their stages of advance on the road to completion.
The commitments already advanced (and achieved) by Forum Conversationists are as varied as the challenges we face, addressing such critical areas as Decent Work & Economic Growth (Sustainable Development Goal 8), Gender Equality (SDG 5), Good Health & Well-being (SDG 3), Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions (SDG 16), Quality Education (SDG 4), and Reduction of Inequalities (SDG 10), as well as the pressing need to increase Women’s Leadership, Visibility, and Influence.
The Reykjavík Pledge Tracker is launched shortly before this year’s Reykjavík Global Forum – Women Leaders 2020, a three-day digital convening of prominent leaders to be held on November 9-11, broadcast globally and supported locally by “Reykjavík Satellite” events worldwide.
The Reykjavík Pledges Tracker and the Forum aim to provide the opportunity for Conversationists to join the Community of Actions and submit further pledges.
