Can 2020 still be the year of women or will it only be remembered as the year of the pandemic?
The answer is the Reykjavík Global Forum – Women Leaders November 9-11, 2020.
Generating momentum to reclaim progress towards equality
In this year, which has shown the need for greater women’s leadership and parity in decision making, the Reykjavík Global Forum – Women Leaders will be one of the very few platforms where hundreds of Leaders from all sectors, including politics, business, civil society, academia, the arts, and media, can Power, Together to build back a more resilient and equal society.
From 9-11 November 2020, the Forum will gather hundreds of world leaders in Reykjavík. They will be connected to several simultaneous Reykjavík Satellites around the world, day-long gatherings of around 40 women leaders. A digital platform, the Reykjavík Virtual Forum, will also be available for those who cannot join in person.
As one of the Global Leaders for the Action Coalitions of Generation Equality and supporting UN Women and other organisations in making sure the world unites to address gender equality this year, we are expanding the Forum to incorporate broader partnership and areas of focus.
This will allow to further respond to the amplification of systemic imbalances affecting women, and ensure that women leaders have a meaningful platform at the Forum to advance shared agendas.
This year’s Forum has been adapted to ensure the safety of attendees, speakers, and staff while enabling outcome-driven discussions exploring decisive solutions.
The Reykjavík Global Forum – Women Leaders is co-hosted annually in Reykjavík, Iceland by Women Political Leaders (WPL) and the Government and Parliament of Iceland.
